Weatherwash Oil Toners: How to Apply

MATERIALS:

- 2 CLEAN, LINT FREE RAGS

- OR DISPOSABLE BRUSH & RAGS

-VINYL/LATEX GLOVES

- WEATHERWASH OIL TONER

  • CLEAR OIL TONER

  • WHITE OIL TONER

  • PREP

Stir can well, pigment can settle at can's bottom and must be redistributed before use. If using multiple containers, combine into one large container first.

  • WIPE OR BRUSH ON

Use a clean rag or brush to wipe toning oil onto the wood's surface.
Work in approx. 12" sections or plank by plank.

  • ALLOW TO SIT

Allow oil toner to sit for 3-8 minutes. The longer it sits, the stronger the wood effect.

  • BUFF OFF

Use a 2nd, clean rag to immediately buff oil back off the wood. Remove any oil the wood doesn't absorb.

  • CURE TIME

Apply up to 3 coats, each will get successively paler.
Do not touch for 24 hours.
72 hours for full cure time.

  • PROTECT

Toners do not provide enough protection for water areas in the home. Protect with WeatherWash Varnish or Polyurethane.
