What You’ll Need
- Clean, lint-free rags
- (Disposable) brush
- Vinyl or latex gloves
- WeatherWash Oil Toner
How to Apply Oil Toners

1. Prep
- Stir thoroughly. Pigment may settle at the bottom of the can.
- If using multiple containers, combine (“box”) them into one larger container for color consistency.
- Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application.

2. Apply
- Use a clean rag or brush to wipe or brush toner onto the wood surface.
- Work in approximately 12" sections or plank by plank for best control.
- Apply evenly and saturate the surface — do not apply too lightly.

3. Allow Oil to Penetrate Wood
- Let toner sit for 3–10 minutes.
- The longer it sits, the deeper and richer the color will become.

4. Buff Off Excess
- Using a second clean rag, wipe off all excess oil.
- Remove any product the wood does not absorb.
- Do not allow excess oil to dry on the surface.

5. Cure Time
- You may apply up to 3 coats for deeper tone and added protection.
- Do not touch for 24 hours.
- Allow to dry 72 hours before sealing.
- Light use for first 30 days.

6. Sealing Over Oil Toners
Yes — you can seal over WeatherWash Oil Toners.
- Allow toner to cure (72 hours).
- ⚠ Toners alone do not provide water protection in high-use areas. Always seal for kitchen, bath, table, or flooring applications.
- Topcoat with WeatherWash Polyurethane or Varnish per label directions.
- Allow toner to cure (72 hours).
Tone Adjustment
Want a Darker Result?
- Apply a second coat.
- Let toner sit slightly longer before wiping.
- Use Walnut or Ebony Oil Toner for richer depth.
Want It Lighter?
- Use White Oil Toner to lighten and cool tones.
- Wipe off sooner.
- Lightly buff after curing to soften tone.
Pro Tips
- The longer the oil sits, the stronger the effect.
- Always wipe off excess before drying.
- If slightly too dark or light, you can buff and rebalance with another coat.
- Always seal after curing for long-term durability.
